My son, Manidhar was admitted to KKH on 30 May 2021 for fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain. upon further analysis by doctors upon admission, it was also noted that the child had an enlarged liver and spleen. The child was worked up further and diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Later he was also diagnosed with BCR ABL +ve (Philadelphia chromosome (PH) is a specific Genetic abnormality which is found rarely in Pediatric Cases).
Doctors immediately advised us to start with Chemotherapy (MASPORE 2020 protocol) as he falls into the higher risk category. His Chemotherapy protocol started on 1st June 2021. He completed protocol 1a (MASPORE2020) and started 1b. As therapy goes on medication dosage will increase and cause for more side effects. Upon starting of 1b protocol he immediately suffered from high fever continuously for one week and was later diagnosed with lung infection (CMV). His chemotherapy has been put on hold and treated for lung infection for about 2 weeks. His Chemotherapy will be resumed only after the infection is cleared and it is assumed at end of July.

As he falls into the high-risk category, he must undergo Stem Cell Transplantation which is very toxic to kids and very expensive. Recently Singapore proved an alternative for this which is not as toxic for kids and not expensive as Stem Cells transplantation. Which is called CAR-T cell therapy. Due to his low immunity
doctors are advised not to travel anywhere in public places and this CAR-T cell therapy is not available in India, so we are unable to move or bring him back to India.

Total cost summed up till now: S$ 112K
CAR-T therapy - S$ 250K
Regular Intensive Chemotherapy - S$ 120K\

As per the current information, overall, it would cost about S$ 480K.
