Makesh Vathyar comes from a family of priests. After finishing his Veda studies, he has been a practising priest (Saastrigal) in Tiruchirapalli, India for many years. Makesh Vathyar and his disciple Nagarajan were involved in an accident last year. During the covid lockdown, they were coming back from Hyderabad, after finishing the funeral rites of the Founder of Veda Bhavan, Shri Venkatarama Ganapati, who had passed away at that time. On the way back, their car met with an accident in which his disciple Nagarajan died at the spot.
Makesh Vathyar sustained serious injuries on his spinal cord and lost all sensation from his waist down. He was treated in Jipmer hospital, Puducherry for many days and had multiple surgeries. Due to covid protocols, he was discharged earlier with complete paraplegia, with no sensation/movement below his waist. Please see the discharge summary for further details. He has been bedridden ever since and needs help from others for all his daily activities.
Till September of this year, Makesh Vathyar was hopeful of recovering and resuming his priestly duties. However, during his recent hospital visit, doctors advised that the chance of him making a full recovery and walking again seems highly unlikely. He may not be able to get back to his normal self, and needs to get used to bed rest for the remainder of his life.
Makesh Vathyar has to support his wife and 3 kids, eldest girl studying in 11th standard, second son (age 13) studying veda, and a three year old girl child.
Since Makesh vathyar cannot resume his normal priestly duties, his only source of income has stopped. He needs support from others to pay his medical bills and to take care of his family. Please help Makesh Vathyar and his family by donating as much as you can in this time of crisis, and get god’s blessing for your kind act.
