Devastated time and again from the Kerala floods of 2018 and later again by the torrential rains in 2019, our domestic help, fondly known Kumari chechi has been struggling to get a roof above her family's head. Deserted by her own children at 60, living with her husband who has a chronic heart problem, kumari chechi has been a domestic help. The money she earns barely helps feed them.. and at this point, even a night of sleep is a luxury! 

They are always wondering when the next rain is going to throw them out of the dilapidated shack. She tried to follow up with the Kerala Government's financial aid after the massive Kerala floods in 2018 just to find herself in a never-ending rabbit hole.. when the torrential rains of 2019 brought them out to the streets destroying whatever little of their belongings they had left.

Not knowing what future has in store for her, her faith in the almighty is what has been keeping her going. battling to meet her daily needs, paying off the debts showered on her by her husbands' medical needs. She years for a roof above her head, a place to keep her and her family safe, a place to call home!
