Painter Blames Himself For Son's Disease, Needs Your Help To Save Him

Vishnu is his son's favourite student. When Krishna puts his glasses on and pretends to teach him the new things he has learnt in school, he beams with pride. He seems to forget that his little boy needs blood transfusion every 21 days.

Rare times when Krishna's parents allow him to go out and play
Krishna is chirpy even in the transfusion ward
Your support can give little Krishna a healthy life
“We dare not miss one of his transfusions. The doctor has told us that missing one of those will put my son’s life in danger. It will make him very weak and can even lead to other complications,”- Vishnu, father.

'The doctors told us that this disease is inherited - I can’t help but blame ourselves'
Krishna was diagnosed with Thalassemia Major when he was just 4 months old. The ones with this disease have low hemoglobin amount and fewer count of red blood cells in the body than normal.“The doctors told us that the blood disease that has affected Krishna has been running in the family, it just didn’t make itself seen before this. My wife, Savita and I were heartbroken, we couldn’t help but blame ourselves,” - Vishnu.

Now, even regular transfusions are not helping
7-year-old Krishna has not missed a single day of transfusion but his doctors have told Vishnu that this treatment is no longer enough for the little boy. Besides side effects like that of fever and headache, regular transfusions can lead to iron overload in Krishna’s body. Excess iron gets stored in the liver, pancreas, endocrine glands, and heart, and can damage vital organs. His only option now is a bone marrow transplant.
Krishna has found a donor in his sister whose stem cells matched but Vishnu can’t afford the transplant
A bone marrow transplant at this young age has a high chance of benefiting Krishna. He will be able to live a life without the transfusions and have a normal childhood. Luckily for Krishna, he has found a matched donor in his younger sister, Shreya (4.5). The only roadblock for the family now is the money. Vishnu has already pooled in his savings and has spent a lot of money on Krishna's treatment.“I paint houses and get around Rs 8000 per month. I am the only one in the family who’s earning and everyday is a struggle for us. From paying the rent of the house to arranging for two square meals a day - it's all on my shoulders. Affording Rs 10 lakhs for the transplant is impossible for me but that’s the only way I can gift my son a healthy life, please help.”

He has gotten used to the painful 4-hour-long transfusion but now he has hope
Krishna has been battling this blood disease since he was just 4 months. The transfusions have become an indispensable part of his life but now there is a chance for him to have a normal life. A bone marrow transplant can save him but his family is too poor to afford it. Even a small contribution from your side can make this happen.Your support can give little Krishna a healthy life
