Bharati Kotian has been shaping the creative minds of school children of St. Joseph High School, Vikhroli, Mumbai for several years now as an arts and crafts teacher. She has been liked and loved by all students over the years.

Unfortunately, she suffered from cancer of the uterus 4 years ago and had to undergo extensive abdominal surgery for removal of the cancerous tissue along with surrounding organs which was then followed up by extensive radiation therapy. The series of misfortunes continued, and her stressful period did not end after the treatments for cancer ended since she suffered a spine injury sustained from a fall.

Her Medi-Claim did not come through for her financial aid and she had to withdraw from her provident fund to support her treatments. However, treatment was expensive, and she had to take up private loans which incur high interest rates.

Her former school students are starting a fundraiser to help her pay off her debt of Rs. 2,00,000 and hope that even a small contribution from her previous students and alumni of St. Joseph High school will help her out of the current stressful financial situation.
