My name is Yash Sanodiya, I am a 5th year law student at National Law University Delhi. My family has been through some difficult health challenges. My father has suffered from a psychic attack (currently suffering from Bipolar 1), and my brother had a blood clot (very rare that doctor took 3.5 hours to only catch the disease which is 1 in a billion), though both are now significantly better. Despite the improvements in their health it required a lot of money (loans, credit cards, money on interest from lenders) to improve the financial conditions, I am currently in a dire financial situation.
I have fallen into a debt trap, with accumulated credit card bills totaling around 17-18 lakhs. My family, including my mother, is fully aware of the situation now. While some relatives have helped in the past, they are no longer in a position to assist further. My mother and I am trying my best to repay, but it has become extremely difficult. My mother is a homemaker, and we cannot inform my father about this debt, as he has already had two attacks, and further stress would have a devastating impact on his health. There are around 16 people whom we need to repay, and their continuous pressure is making it unbearable.
I was preparing for the UPSC exams, but I had to put that on hold about 3-4 months ago, as my job demands around 8-9 hours daily. I continue to search for better employment opportunities, but my efforts have not been successful so far. With only six months left to complete my college degree, I feel stuck with no viable solution in sight. The added stress from the debt and people continuously pressing for money is creating chaos in my life. I feel at a loss as to how to move forward, at the age of 25 I have no peace left in me and I don’t know how long this stress will be there.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I truly appreciate any help you might offer.
