    Justin Prabagharan

    from Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Dear Friends and Supporters,

My husband R.Justin Prabagharan, a 39-year-old male had a HHH RTA which happened around 2008. He was sick and a tracheostomy was done at Ramachandra hospital. He was intermittently having CSF leaks from the time of RTA.

He was admitted on June 19th, in MIOT hospital, Chennai, with a diagnosis of bacterial meningitis/seizure disorder with COVID positive. He got discharged from MIOT on July 1 st and was admitted on the same date in VHM hospital with the complaints, intermittently leak of CSF rhinorrhea, slow response, difficulty in walking and decreased memory. With treatment of high and costly antibiotics (Meropenem 2 gm) he shows mild improvement in walking and response.

After discharge from the hospital, he continued antibiotics and neuro tablets at home. But there was no improvement in his physical activity, response, memory, urinary sensation.

On Aug 4th, Brain MRI was taken and diagnosed as CSF leak at pneumocephalus and midline shift present. CT stereogram shows leakage of iodinated contrast into the right nasal cavity through a bony defect in the floor of the right frontal sinus and leakage of contrast into the right ethmoid sinus through a bony defect in the root of the ethmoid sinus.

Hence he has been decided to under the plan of bifrontal craniotomy and anterior cranial fossa repair with facia lata graft/tissue. Surgery was done on Aug 6th and my husband will be needed post ICU care till the time of discharge. I have already exhausted the insurance limit for him and spent all the savings for his last 2 months of treatment.

As per the revised estimates, he needs to be in hospital for treatment and requires another 10 lakhs for the treatment. I am living with 2 kids who are at age of 12 and 7 and your valuable contribution will be a big support to continue the treatment. Please help and support.
