Hi, am Jayalakshmi Pillai, lecturer by profession, and a mountaineer, solo biker, cyclist, powerlifter, and bodybuilding athlete by passion. While I hail from Aranmula, Kerala, I was raised in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. As a teacher, I connect with today’s youth, understand their challenges, and strive to guide them toward personal growth and self-discovery.

But there’s something deeper driving me – a cause that’s close to my heart. I am climbing Mount Everest not just for the challenge, but to spark a conversation about youth and mental health. This climb is about more than reaching the summit – it’s about inspiring the younger generation to pursue their dreams and believe in their mental resilience.

Standing atop Mount Everest at 8,848.86 meters is a monumental achievement, but for me, it’s a symbol of limitless possibilities. As a professor at a girls’ college, I want to show my students that no dream is too big and no goal is too far out of reach.

This pursuit has been years in the making. And I feel ready to go ahead with the climb in April 2025. The preparation for Everest has taken over 8 years of mental and physical conditioning, but there are still many obstacles to overcome. The cost of the expedition exceeds ₹30 lakhs, which includes essential equipment, experienced guides, permits from the Nepalese government, oxygen supplies, and the support of a capable team.
