My name is Harshita Jain and I am a sophomore at Shri Ram College of Commerce, currently pursuing B.Com(Hons.). I am extremely interested in the fields of public policy and behavioral economics, and have been one of the top 52 students selected from all across the World to attend the prestigious Data and Policy Scholar Program at the University of Chicago following a rigorous selection process with the program acceptance rate being less than 5%.
I have been a part of several national and international youth conferences in the past including:
1. World Youth Forum, Ejypt
2. World Youth Conference on Kindness, UNESCO
3. World Youth Conference 2019 Mauritius
4. Harvard US-India Initiative
5. Ivy League Model United Nations Conference 2018

This is my first crowdfunding campaign and I actively seek your support to attend UChicago.
The Data and Policy Scholar Program at the University of Chicago is an incredible opportunity for top global undergraduate and graduate students to gain a foundation in data analytics and policy research, and complete a capstone project under faculty at UChicago, one of the top schools in the World. I have attached my admission letter for your kind perusal.
As I am from commerce background, there are fewer opportunities for me particularly in India to explore the world of policymaking. The program is a rare opportunity for me to work closely with some of the brightest minds in the world and get hands-on experience with real-world policy problems. It is definitely going to be a door for my future endeavors and career choices.
The estimated expenses are :
Enrolment fees: $1000 (71,120 INR)
Visa fee : 160$ (11,282 INR)
Total : 82, 402 INR
I am looking for individuals/firms/corporations, that could fund my UChicago Program. Even a small donation would help me reach my goal.

About me:
I was born and brought up in Indore, a place very close to my heart beacuse of its people and ofcourse food. It's taken my dad 10+ years of financial hardships to attain financial stability after losing his rights on land and business worth lakhs of rupees as a result of mass-scale displacement by the government. I've grown up seeing both my parents relocating multiple times and struggling hard to fund my education and living paycheck to paycheck, not by choice, but by circumstance, which has taught me something incredible in life - to stop dwelling in regret. I was able to channel my passion towards things I cared deeply about and tried to seize every opportunity I had back then. I co-founded the first TedEd Club of Central India, working for the capacity development of 60+ primary school students in Indore, and represented India at the TED Ed Weekend 2018 (an annual TED Ed Conference inviting the most compelling speakers from TED Ed clubs across the world) held at the TED Headquarters in New York City. My persistence and dedication helped me get into my dream college, SRCC. College was a whole new experience for me, which sort of challenged me in ways that I couldn't have imagined.
The journey has just begun for me and as the chinese proverb goes "I am like chicken eating a mountain of grain. Every grain is a new word for me to learn as I strive to become better everyday".
