My father (Gour Roy) developed Covid and got admitted to Charnock hospital COVID ICU (Kolkata, West Bengal, India). At the time of his admission, his spo2 was below 80. He underwent treatment for 25days there. He had developed severe lung pneumonia and was on very high oxygen support throughout. He also developed severe cytokine storm. He has pre-existing comorbidities which are making the progress very difficult. However, he got stabilized after 25days in ICU and was discharged for home where he was on oxygen support and required 24hr nurse care.
However, within 24hrs of getting discharged from Charnock hospital and reaching home, his spo2 dropped to 74 again (with 5lit/min oxygen support) and developed fever and additional complications. We had to immediately hospitalize him again in Woodlands hospital (Kolkata, India) ICU where he is currently admitted. He is on high oxygen support and doctors are assessing him.
My father's medical insurance was very, very minimal and so far we have spent 11 lakhs including treatment bill at Charnock and additional costs (medicine, ambulance, oxygen cylinder, concentrator, nurse etc) by cash. We have exhausted our financial capacity and we do not know how long my father needs to stay under treatment. We also do not know whether he will get worse or deteriorate to more severe oxygen support like ventilation etc. We are extremely helpless. We are requesting everyone to please come forward and support us in this extremely difficult time of our life. No amount is small for us.
