Gurukulam is an ancient concept adopted by our Indian Tradition. It is the first school to teach the life skills and values through activities by Guru(Teacher). With the same vision to develop the villages through the students, we started Gurukulam 360° Learning Schools through a psychological approach by our Visionary Team VDF (a registered not-for-profit organization) along with Manikanta Kamatam, Learning & Volunteering Coach, www.bit.ly/Manikantakamatam
We appointed the coaches from each rural villages who are graduates. They get a monthly honorarium of INR 3000 per month which is Rs 100 per day for 30 Young Champions from their village.
As part of our daily activities, we build a strong daily routine which strengthens their learning skills. We focus on improving their multiple intelligences. Over the top of their IQ(Intelligence Quotient) we focus on improving their SQ (Social Quotient) & EQ (Emotional Quotient) to make them the perfect citizen of the nation.
All our Gurukulam Services to our Young Champions are of Free of Cost. They will pay it forward by doing daily random acts of kindness such as watering plants, feeding birds and animals, helping farmers and senior citizens. We strongly believe that teaching the culture of giving back to the society since childhood makes this world a happily living place.
We have adopted a “needs-based salary” approach, meaning, the salaries of coaches at Gurukulam is not decided based on their qualification, work-experience or the position they hold. Teachers here enjoy learning with children, are self-reflective and do not treat this as a job. A person who joins Gurukulam shares his/her financial requirement based on their family needs. It is often challenging to meet those needs, balancing with our affordability, due to paucity of funds.
