Like every year, Assam is yet again devastated by floods with over 6 lakh people affected across the state. 2021 brings with it the effects of more than a year of Covid-19 and the second wave has added to the woes of the people.
As sources of income have dried up, people are struggling to make ends meet. Floods have caused heavy damage to several villages; this dual crisis has especially affected remote villages of districts such as Majuli, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrugrah, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Barpeta and Chirang. Agriculture is the main source of livelihood here which is under great stress as 1000s of hectares of farmland is submerged.
Ayang Trust and Friends For Floods is preparing to extend humanitarian support to 1000 affected families in rural Assam. The difficulties arising from the pandemic and multiple waves of flood may bring disaster to these communities. They are raising resources to support urgent need of the affected communities from Majuli district of Assam. The emergency support kit will comprise of dry ration, hygiene kit and other household survival kits.
We look forward to your support so that we can extend relief to more affected families. Please donate generously and share the campaign for wider reach.
