    Family of Manisha Valmiki

    from Hatharas

India is a vast country known for its diversity and beauty. It is the cradle of human race. It is a beautiful story from within and with beautiful characters and creatures. sadly, it has also given birth to some monsters and demons. People who are hostile to others and mean nothing but eternal misery. Such are the 4 people involved in the gang rape of an innocent girl, Manisha Valmiki.
19 years old Manisha was a middle-class Dalit girl who lived with her parents, brother and sister in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The young woman had gone to the fields with her mother to collect fodder for animals as she would everyday. At some point, she went missing. Apparently, she was dragged away from the fields by her neck by her neighbours who lived across the street from hers. She was found brutally tortured and beaten up- her tongue lacerated and spine permanently damaged. She tragically died on 29th September, 2020 about 2 weeks after her injuries on a hospital bed in Delhi but not before recording her statement with the police department.
With the wood still hot from the flames, we all stand and support Manisha’s family to fight for justice. GirlUp Matsya has decided to start a fundraiser for the victim’s family. We urge everyone to contribute and donate whatever amount that they can. Your donation will help Manisha’s family to stay active and keep fighting against the wrongs done to them and their daughter.
Thank you for all your time and support, we look forward to take a step together against the evil that lurks around the corners and to stand up against the injustice against mankind.

Every penny donated here will go to Nirbhayajyotitrust (started by the family of Nirbhaya)  which provides direct assistance to rape victims and their family  through counseling, legal advice and psychological and economic rehabilitation. Advocate Seema Samridhi Kushwaha who also fought the case for Nirbhaya and her family, has taken up the case of Manisha Valmiki, is directly affiliated with the trust as their legal adviser.
