I (Ishira Kumar) am raising funds to organise private vaccination camps for the family members of the Mumbai Police Force.
These are people who have risked the safety of their own wives, sons, and parents to ensure our safety against this brutal pandemic. Further, the police force has seen an unfortunately higher proportion of fatalities due to being frontline warriors in the COVID-19 battle. Everyone deserves to have a fair shot at getting the shot, and unfortunately many communities have gotten marginalised in the current process, due to lack of awareness, technological savvy, and financial resources. While the police force itself was one of the first to get jabbed - their family members are one such group that has been left behind.
Ishira has recently conducted two vaccination camps in Worli - fully fundraised by donations from generous Worli residents. She was able to vaccinate 800 people over two days - the first was the neighbourhood vendors, hawkers and shop keepers, and the second was for the family members of the Worli Police.
Since then, she has received phone calls from numerous sources, asking to continue the vaccine drives for the family members of the Mumbai Police. We sincerely believe it's our duty as citizens to step up and help.
You may ask us - but isn't it the government's job to get this done? Yes, of course, in an ideal world, it would be. However, as we are all aware - vaccine scarcity is a real issue, and we aren't reaching the numbers we should to ensure the quickest vaccination possible for our city, state and country.
It is thus incumbent upon us -- those who are able to - to raise funds and conduct these private vaccination camps for those who need them the most.
We are aiming at vaccinating as many people as we can. Price per vaccine is approx. Rs. 800/- We appeal to you to donate whatever amount you are able - nothing is too small - and to please share this message with all you can.
