Hi, my name is Disha Karnayake, and I’m 23 years old.
I'm going through the most difficult time of my life, and I’m writing this with the hope that someone out there might hear my story and help me.
In March this year, I lost my mother after a long and painful fight with serious health issues. She had severe diabetes and multiple brain clots. We tried everything to save her — shifting hospitals, taking out loans, and borrowing from many people. We spent over ₹35 lakhs, but still couldn’t save her.
While we were still dealing with this emotional and financial crisis, we also had to face a SARFAESI issue related to our house. Since we had taken a large loan for my mom’s treatment by keeping our house documents with the bank, we were at risk of losing our home. It was terrifying — we were already losing so much, and the fear of becoming homeless added even more pressure on us.
Just a month later, my father passed away from a heart attack. He was heartbroken after losing my mom, and doctors said the stress and grief took a toll on him.
As I was trying to stay strong for my younger brother and sister, tragedy struck again. Just a few days ago, I lost my brother in a terrible incident at his college. Seniors bullied him, and the harassment led to an accident that took his life.
Now, my elder sister is admitted to the hospital. She was hit by a truck while crossing the road and is in a serious condition. On top of that, she has to undergo an epilepsy surgery, which is very expensive.
I am the only one left now to take care of everything — my sister’s health, our home, and huge debts of over ₹60 lakhs from hospital bills and loans.
I recently joined Capgemini as a fresher, but my salary is not enough. Every day is a struggle — for food, for paying bills, and for peace of mind.

I have uploaded the death certificates of my parents, along with the receipt of the last rites for my brother. Additionally, I have included pictures of my father, mother, and brother as supporting documents.
