SPECIAL HEALTHCARE NEEDS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS HOME SERVING DESTITUTE AND NEEDY ELDERS.
Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society, founded over 36 years ago,has been implementing various welfare programmes for the betterment of the poor and down-trodden, for the rescue and rehabilitation of children, and for the care and nurture of neglected elders who have no one to support them.
KKSS has been running four Senior Citizen Homes, in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Dharmapuri and Coimbatore Districts, there are about one hundred helpless elders - both men and women - who are all given a comfortable accommodation, good food, clean clothing - all offered free in a loving and caring atmosphere.
The recurring expenditure is supported by Ministry of social justice and Empowerment, New Delhi. Often there are elders suffering from various old age ailments which require medical and para-medical intervention, which is arranged from time to time.A medical officer visits the Homes every week for a general check up of the residents.However, we have to provide some of the essential appliances, for the elders,which include:a) Medical Cots/Beds with adjustable heights for patients.b) Adult diapers for elders with urinary problems.c) Sugar level monitor for diabetics.d) Blood pressure monitor for hypertensive patients.e) Nebulizers for respiratory patients.f) Spectacles etc.,
We shall be grateful for any contribution from the charity-minded friends for this purpose to fulfill the needs of the resident elders from Time to time.
