The politics that we see in our country today is not working for every single citizen. We are far away from the vision that our country’s great freedom fighters and constitution framers had. We do not witness politics that represents each one of us.
For most common Indians, politics is dirty, despairing and distant.
Our goal is to transform politics. We nurture grassroots leaders who have the moral courage to reimagine Indian politics.
We dream of a day when politics will become aspirational, when teenagers would want to become politicians who dream to do good for millions, when we will personally know politicians as friends, like we know engineers, doctors, teachers, bankers etc.
Indian School of Democracy is a non-partisan organization that works for building political leadership at the grassroots, across geographical, political, and ideological spectrum. The focus is to cultivate crucial hard skills for public service, as well as spaces for inner transformation and a community of principled public leaders.
We do this through our core programs, The Good Politician, She Represents, Democracy Express and fostering key partnerships with organizations within the ecosystem.
We want to make Indian democracy inclusive and accessible for all, especially the most marginalized and vulnerable. We want to enable more women, transgender people, socially disadvantaged communities, and young people to be in politics.
One of our core principles is to remain non-partisan. For this, it is important that we don't build an institution funded by a few people with a certain political leaning or interest. Keeping this view in mind, we want to be funded by thousands of common citizens.
