I am Jannie Fernandes, aged 23, resident of Bhayender. I and my brother Steve Fernandes are here to seek your support as we have exhausted all our means of support. My mother, Deepa Fernandes, aged 49 is battling for her life as she is suffering from Covid pneumonia. She has been on a ventilator since the 18th of April. She underwent tracheostomy surgery and still remains unconscious.
Based on her improvements, the doctors have said that she may take up to 2 months to recover. The life-saving drugs and pharmacy bills reach up to 80-90K per day. Our family’s only aim is to save her life at any cost.
We had to shift her to a hospital with better facilities, and as there is a dearth of ICU beds with ventilator in entire Mumbai, we were forced to get her admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri. We know it is a high-end hospital but we are hopeful she will recover because they can provide her with life-saving drugs that are not available in the open market. She has insurance cover but that will be not sufficient to meet her expenses.
