Story

As India reels under the devastating surge of Covid, refugees are bearing a deep impact. It is crucial for us to stand up NOW and provide essential care and protection.

THIS IS AN URGENT EMERGENCY APPEAL and it is critical for the potential impact it has.

With COVID-19, many refugees have been pushed further into poverty and despair.
2020 was a very harsh year for everybody, but imagine if you had to survive covid 19 without any access to basic facilities. With no hope of isolating yourself and your loved ones because you don’t have a home to stay safely inside.
It’s a crisis of epic proportions.

No Vaccination for Refugees?
When the outbreak of COVID-19 occurred, scientists all around the world were desperately trying to make a vaccine. Today, when they have been successful, it is a heartbreaking reality that everybody does not have access to it. One such example is the Refugees.
It should not be a privilege as it is portrayed for everyone to get vaccinated. But India’s ongoing vaccination drive is only open to its own citizens.
If someone does not have an Adhaar card, they cannot even get COVID tested, let alone get vaccinated and most of the refugees work in the informal sector with no job securities, like a watchman, a labourer. Without being vaccinated and testing, they may have a negative impact on the people who are.
Most of the refugees currently in Delhi have been here for a long time and still are not able to get an Adhaar card which should be provided within 182 days of being in a country for over 12 months. Some of the nations like Nepal, Jordan, Rwanda and many more have started to vaccinate refugees but that is still not the case in India.
