Current Situation:
As you all are well aware, Covid - 19, has reared its ugly head once again, only this time, deadlier with its mutated, more infectious variant strains. This second wave has caught all of us by surprise, with 3 Lac+ daily active cases pan India, more than twice the first wave’s peak numbers: 90 K daily active cases in Sep 2020! This has caused a huge surge in urgent need for hospital beds, oxygen, critical medications like Remdesivir, and most importantly life saving plasma throughout the country, including Bangalore now.
Plasma treatment:
Convalescent plasma from a recovering Covid patient is administered to a Covid +ve patient, which in most cases then significantly improves the patient’s condition and gives them a fighting chance to attenuate the onset and onslaught of this deadly disease. Several studies have been conducted globally to attest to the safety and efficacy of this treatment. More FAQs here.
Who we are:
Covid India Campaign, www.CovidIndiaCampaign.org, is a pan India disaster support task force started under the aegis of ICATT Foundation (www.icatt.in), a registered NGO, with dozens of volunteers across several domains including intensive care specialists, frontline doctors, hospital owners, NGOs, social workers, corporate leaders and even alumni of the IITs and IIMs.
What we have done so far:
Our organization along with our affiliate partners below and dozens of volunteers have already matched 1,200+ patients with donors pan India since the pandemic began. In fact we also set up the first plasma donation banks in Karnataka in conjunction with the Government of Karnataka (inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister of Karnataka) and HCG Hospital, the only ICMR approved organization in Bangalore to be allowed to conduct plasma trials at that time. This launch was also covered by multiple news outlets and large newspapers including an article in the Economic Times. We had also enabled donations of essential medical supplies like N95 masks, PPE kits, worth INR 4 Crores+ via our partner NGOs like Give India, Ekam Foundation and large corporate CSRs including Flipkart and Atkins Global.
What we plan to do to help:
We are already inundated with a huge influx of incoming requests for plasma from desperate Covid +ve patients from all over the city of Bangalore as well as pan India. We are trying to reach out to as many people as possible who have recovered from Covid and are now eligible to donate plasma thereby directly saving one or two lives each time they donate.
Call to Unite and Unite to Call
There is a huge deluge of Covid related information on the internet circulating via WhatsApp, Fb, Twitter and other social media channels. We are a dedicated team of volunteers working around the clock to collate, call and verify as many pieces of such information as possible. This is in order to create a single, authentic, centralized database of near real time information around the availability of critical medical resources like beds, oxygen, medicines and plasma. This will create order within the chaos and save valuable time for the patients' friends and relatives scouting the city for the same. But this isn't sustainable with just volunteers. This HAS to be run like a large tele calling company using nationalized hotlines but localized teams updating this info on a consistent basis which requires funds.
We are also willing to donate food, oxygen, medicines and other essential medical supplies.
Please DONATE. Save a life!
