What do we do?
ASK has been working since 1998 with children of handicraft artisans in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh at a school based project called ASK Sankalp.
We rescue children working in hazardous industries like brassware and help them achieve formal education for a secured future.
Our concern
Proper education lends a child the colours he/she needs for the canvas of holistic development. We have 700 children enrolled in the age group of 3- 16 years and COVID-19 has miserably impacted their education. All the students come from extremely poor households and can barely fund their schooling requirements. Since the pandemic around 318 children have not been able to attend a single online class which means that their chance of securing a sound and happy future is now compromised. Their drawings of pastel and blue may soon be replaced by the hard tools of the workshops.
How can you help?
Their dreams will be lost forever if they are not helped immediately. They might never go to school again and shall be left vulnerable to the vicious vultures of child labour getting back to brassware industry. COVID-19 can leave such irreparable scars on their life. Affording smartphones for them is a necessity, ASK is working day and night to provide this.
318 children need smartphones to attend online classes. Each smartphone will cost Rs. 5000.
