“Cancer didn’t bring me to my knees, it brought me to my feet”.
Hi. I am Mayura Shivalkar, not just a daughter, a wife and a mother but also a breast cancer survivor who is a successful Triathlete and IRONMAN (swimming, cycling and running).
At 47, I have beaten advanced breast cancer, had my ovaries & uterus removed along with 8 chemo, 28 radiation cycles. Having been thru the journey, I have dedicated myself to spread awareness that a cancer conqueror can also be strong enough to overcome any challenges in a shortest possible time – after proper treatment.
Me and my son Megh are participating in the grueling IRONMAN Kazakhstan in August and have set myself the target of raising INR 12.5 lakhs to treat 50 children with cancer at the KLE's Hospital in Belgaum, my native town. The KLE's Hospital treats a largely rural population from North Karnataka, South Maharashtra and also Goa and does a stellar job with meaningful impact in these areas.
