An Excellent Education and access to Holistic development Should Not Just Be For The Rich
“Art class on Monday, Bharatnatyam on Tuesday, Indian Classical Music on Wednesday, Western Music on Thursday…” You surely would have seen your own children or those in your neighbourhood going to so many different types of classes. Their days are filled with art and dance and music — all necessary for a holistic, well rounded happy childhood. But their childhood is very different from the lives of children from impoverished families where three square meals can be a challenge.
Extra curricular classes for these families are only a distant dream.
Hello everyone! This is Soma, Deepesh, Megha, Parth and Meghna. We are Teach For India Fellows who teach more than 200 children in under-resourced schools of the Byatarayanapura community of Bangalore. Our students come from underprivileged and marginalized backgrounds. Despite all the adverse challenges, our children are full of life and energy and so much potential. For instance, Varun from Grade 6 in GMPS Byatarayanapura is a budding artist. He draws life-like potraits of her friends and teachers. Shreya from Grade 7 in Mount Everest is an excellent dancer with a keen interest in learning different dance forms.
We simply could not let the talent of Varun, Shreya and 200 other children go to waste. This is why we are starting a After-School Community Center for the children of Byatarayanpura Community. Here, we will host extra classes to bridge the massive learning gap, hold extra -curricular classes for music, art, dance, sports, theatre, slam poetry for our children to develop their talents and express themselves freely without any inhibitions, co plan and execute Socio emotional learning workshops to aid holistic development of our students. We are also planning to build a community library to promote a culture of reading and inquiry.
For our dreams to come true, we need your help.
We need to raise 3 Lakh Rupees which will go towards rent of one year, renovations and recurring costs.
You can find the detailed breakdown of our costs for the next 17 months here -
Rent – ₹12000 x 17 = ₹2,04,000
Advance to the Venue – ₹50,000 (refundable)
Painting and Renovation – ₹15000
Carpets – ₹5000
Whiteboards – ₹5000

We understand that your hard-earned money is precious but a donation of any amount would help more than 200 children lead more fulfilling, happier lives. Please help us make their childhood better. No donation is small.
Thank You
Soma, Parth, Meghna, Deepesh and Megha.
