We, team SAPATH has taken an oath to enlighten the underprivileged students by providing them with books and scholarships. For 12 long years, we have been endeavouring to stand by the needy yet meritorious students. Likewise the previous years, this year also we are targeting to help around 200 students providing them text books, reference books, note books and practice sets.
So it is our earnest appeal to all of you to extend your hand of co-operation to encourage us to help the students belonging to a needy family to fulfil their dreams... Education is an essential and indispensable need to live in the modern world. Our objective is to encourage and inspire the economically backward students to continue their education to transmit the tradition, culture, skill and knowledge to the future generation of the society. Our goal is to extend our hand of help to those students and thereby fulfilling our social responsibility of upliftment of education.
How we operate:
We visit the schools of Bagnan and its surroundings and with due co-operation and kind help of the headmaster/headmistress prepare a list of around 10 needy-meritorious students from each school. Each of them is asked to submit the details of their books. Once we are ready with the entire list of books, we purchase all these and distribute the books to the students in a small gathering where we invite some local teachers and educationists to encourage the spirit of education among the students with their valuable speech and suggestion. This year we are targeting to distribute the books on 18th of January 2020.
Our budget this year:
This year we have targeted to visit 21 schools under WBBSE (West Bengal Board of Secondary Education) and planned to distribute the text books, reference books and practice sets among 220 students to help them to obtain better education in their due course. We intend to give books to the students of VIII, IX, X, XI, XII. Now a day almost all the textbooks from class V to X are provided by the Government but the students require grammar books (both English & Bengali), reference books and questing banks. These are beyond the purchasing capacity of the families who struggle to meet their square meals.
This year our estimated budget is...
200 students × Rs.400 (Average cost of 2 books) = 80000
Just to have an idea, cost of few Class IX books:
A standard English Grammar book (Highlights of English by P.K Mukherjee) costs Rs. 300(after discount Rs. 260)
A standard practice set of any subject ('Roy and Martin Question Bank' or 'Duff and Dutt English grammar and question bunch') cost around Rs.200(After discount Rs.160).
Any reference book of any subject (Chhaya Pralashani or Roy-Martin or Prantik ) costs around Rs.300(After discount Rs. 220).
These are all very important books for the students to score better marks in the exam.
Note: If in any case we surplus our budget this year, we will utilize our excess amount next year.
