Hi! My name is Sanaz Khozini and I am here to raise funds for my 2yr old son Avyaan Darshan who is suffering from Pierre Robin Syndrome.
Pierre Robin Syndrome (PRS) is a rare congenital birth defect in which an infant has a smaller than normal lower jaw, a tongue that falls back in the throat, and an upper airway obstruction which causes difficulty in breathing & eating (swallowing).
What is the treatment?
The treatment involves a surgical procedure called Distraction Osteogenesis (DO). An incision is made and the jaw bone is carefully separated to allow a distraction device to be attached to the bone, on both sides of the jaw. The device has two screws that are turned to further separate the bone after surgery. By pulling the ends of the bone apart, new bone will form to fill in the gap and heal. This creates a longer jaw bone and provides more space for the tongue so that it no longer blocks the airway. The device remains in place for 3 months to allow new bone to form. The device is surgically removed at the end of treatment.
Why do I need your help?
So far we have already spent over 20 Lakhs on Avyaan's medical treatment (NICU, tracheotomy, ongoing doctor visits and medication). Loans and money from friends & family have helped us manage these expenses.
As mentioned above, the DO surgery and recovery spans over several months. We won't be able to raise the funds needed for this on our own. We kindly request your help in raising this amount for Avyaan's treatment.
How can you help?
- Contribute to this fund. Your small help will go a long way in helping Avyaan recover.
- Share this campaign with your friends and family & on social media platforms.
- Send your blessings and positive energy to Avyaan. Your prayers will help him recovery quickly.
Thank you for all your help and support.
