My name is Anurag Gondane. I was born and brought up in Tumsar, Maharashtra, India. It feels like a dream to tell you that I have recently got an offer to study MSc in Clinical Pharmacology from University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK [QS World Rank 77th] and I have to reach University upto 15th Jan, 2022.

It's an honour to get selected at such crucial course which has its huge impact on India and its people. With this course, I will get the opportunity to understand the health system and medical system at an International level.  Ever since my childhood, I always dreamt of improving the health system in India by providing low-cost medicines, vaccines, etc to each and every person in the country. Growing up in tough circumstances turned my dream into my goal.  Studying this course will give me brief understanding and exposure to health system at a global level and I plan to do similar things for my country.

Journey:

Being a first generation learner and the only person in my family to be able to think things at such a scale and to get education despite of low family income, I feel overwhelming for being accepted at such an International level and I truly admit that the journey was not very easy for me ever since my childhood to date. There were times when I felt like giving up due to poor financial conditions and less opportunities but it was my dream that kept me motivated and maintained my momentum throughout the journey. Definitely it took sheer amount of hard work and dedication and finally I am happy to get accepted at the University of Glasgow, UK.

Despite poor financial conditions, my father who is an Electrician and my mother who is a Homemaker were dedicated for educating me in the first place. They provided me the best possible education for me that they could afford and keeping this in my mind, I always used to strive in academics and entrepreneurship. It was my job to do the best and make my parents proud. I completed my Graduation in Pharmacy from Agnihotri College of Pharmacy, Wardha, Maharashtra and excelled during the years of graduation. I kept on doing things which would give strong foundation to my goal. I participated in International and National Conferences on Pharma and Pharma Start-up, Pharma Translational Research Programmes and many other life changing workshops.

Being able to see poverty so closely, I am always determined towards helping kids, students, and orphans around the state. I visited many orphanage homes near the region I live and provided whatever medical help I was able to.  This small contribution towards society made me a better human being and I dream to help needy people around me on a large scale through providing good healthcare system.

What have I done?

Due to good academic progress in my school days and my interest in the subjects like biology, chemistry and technology, I had determined to go for the area of medicine. With a dream to serve the mankind by becoming a health professional, I took admission in a Pharmacy College.

During my Graduation at Agnihotri College of Pharmacy, Wardha, as I studying about human anatomy & physiology, various drugs and their actions on the human body, it stimulated me to think about how I can make a contribution towards this area of medicine. I started getting more curious about how to uplift or improve the public health, so that they will be able to cope up with various existing and upcoming diseases. Moreover, I also got interested to understand the drug dependence of public.

My interest and fear that I would become back in the race always triggered me to keep doing something. Then I started attending some important conferences on various subjects of Pharma which sparkled my mind to have more ideas, innovation and basic need of research.

Pharma Start-up : Opportunities and Challenges Seminar at Dadasaheb Balpande College of Pharmacy, Nagpur opened my mind about Entrepreneurship. Previously my mindset was like Business is not for backward class people but that Seminar totally changed my way of thinking. I started thinking about Innovative ideas, how the knowledge I am gaining could be used to develop something novel. This triggered me to attend more such workshops.

One Day National Seminar on Translational Research from Bench to Bedside arranged by RTM, University Nagpur. One of the memory about this Seminar is that it is in between my Semester examination but thinking nothing would come according to your feasability, I registered myself for that. I should tell you that I was the only one from my class to attend this. My Seniors said to me why have u come here in between your exams but I was dedicated to achieve something.

Conferences like "2 days International Workshop On Digital Transformation In Pharma Industry" arranged by Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, RTMNU, Nagpur as well as "International Conference on Invigorating Research in Pharmaceuticals : Reasonable Industrial Approach" by Dadasaheb Balpande College of Pharmacy, Nagpur further enhanced my research oriented mindset in Pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, the lessons from pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical analysis, pathophysiology, pharmacology triggered me to think more and excited me to go for next level-study of pharmacology.

 Moreover, I have been involved in peer discussion with my fellow friends and my juniors which found to be useful to strengthen my knowledge and kept my aspiration up.

Future Plans?

After having exposure of Global Health systems, and with the research oriented knowledge which I will receive through my Postgraduate Taught programme, I would like to strengthen health infrastructure of our Country like developed Nations, also I want to provide Medical care accessible to each & everyone at low cost by making drugs and their delivery more targetive and so ultimately reducing pay for hefty prescriptions. Moreover, I would like to uplift the other curious and economically backward students like me by proper guidance. Nevertheless, it would be a challenge to achieve my dream without your support and wishes.

What do I want from you?

Pursuing higher education has always been a dream for me due to its high fees and poor financial conditions. Currently, my family is very much financially dependent on me and cannot support my higher studies. Due to pandemic, many funding institutions have been delayed for years and some of them have stopped their operations in this pandemic. Being accepted at the university for the 2022 intake, having a deadline of 15th January 2022, its crucial to pay the college fees before the date and to reach there by 15th January. If I miss this chance, I don't know I would get a second opportunity or not due to family responsibilties and poverty. The university has their strict conditions regarding fees and academics. Self-funding my higher education using scholarships becomes a critical roadblock at this juncture.  Therefore, crowd-funding is only option I have and I am very much hopeful that people like you will definetely help me.

I plan to fund my remaining fees and expenses through part-time jobs and loans. I need your help to achieve my dream of attaining this prestigious degree in Clinical Pharmacology and I promise that I will remain intact on my dreams and ambitions.
