I am Amit. My life has come down to a halt after my 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with blood cancer last month. Amidst this pandemic, she was not keeping well since July. We got her checked from our local physician and they told us she just had minute tonsillitis. But after the blood reports came, we were informed it is built into a cancer.
She has now been admitted in the Tata Memorial hospital, Kolkata, in cabin number 55 and is undergoing the treatment. We have used up our savings and medical insurance of 2lakhs already. The doctor has informed us that the whole treatment would take about 6-8 months and we will have to stay in Kolkata, away from the rest of the family. The doctor has right now given us an estimate amount of 15-18 Lakhs for her treatment, but they are also predicting a transplant which would need an addition of 20Lakhs.
This has taken a toll on the whole family. Our cheerful girl is going through so much pain. The pandemic has been difficult for all middle class families in India and it is definitely impacting families who are fighting this deadly disease; cancer.
