Every year, millions of stray animals are left vulnerable to seasonal diseases and accidents. In the Himalayan town of Manali, Himachal Pradesh, Kamlesh, Becky, Irma & Buddhi are on a mission to change that. The four individuals came together to set up Manali Strays in September 2019.
Manali Strays opened a facility in August 2020 in Haripur, around 20 minutes outside of main Manali. They set about turning a cottage set in an apple orchard and corn field into a functioning clinic with kennels, outdoor areas for recovering inpatients, an operating room, and clean, inviting treatments rooms.
Now, we need YOUR help.
There are no veterinary diagnostic facilities in Manali so when an x-ray or blood test is required, animals that are already scared, in pain or sick, have to be transported to human facilities or wait while samples are taken to human facilities. This wastes valuable time and resources and means that the results are not accurate as they are not species-specific.
To continue our work in the Greater Kullu Area of over 438K residents, we need your support in securing essential equipment that will allow strays and pets access to diagnostic facilities all at Manali Strays at the time of arrival, allowing for better treatment and outcomes.
Your donation will help to secure a veterinary biochemistry analyzer, which costs 5,90,000 INR.

Importance of a biochemistry analyser
- Allows us to assess the health of animals prior to surgery;
- Helps to diagnose specific conditions, such as liver and kidney disease, heart injury, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances;
- Help to identify important changes in key biological processes during illness or injury.
- Enables serial blood tests taken over hours or days to monitor an animal's condition and treatment progress.
