Kashmir Animal Welfare Foundation (KAWF) is a registered Not–For–Profit, minimally supported volunteer based organization in Kashmir Valley which has a mission to help and improve life of abused, starving, injured/ignored/abandoned strays of valley.
KAWF registers 3-4 cases on a daily basis with ailments ranging from skin issues to accidental injuries to severe medical problems like meningitis.
Some of the cases are treated on spot by the volunteers who are equipped with the requirement medical supplies and training to handle simpler issues while others which need immediate and long term medical attention are transported to the kennels where care takers handle the cases on a 24*7 basis.
We are a minimally supported organization and in view of animal welfare facilities and infrastructure lacking on a total level in the valley, we have pay at each and every step from rescue to diagnosis to transportation.
Winters are arriving and temperature is going to drop down to minus 10 and below in the coming months. Stray dogs are left with no food to scavenge for because of roads being covered with rain and snow. The cold also makes it difficult for free movement. Winters are harsh in Kashmir, especially for strays who have to battle the cold with an empty stomach.
We have collaborated with volunteers across the valley to feed strays in stretches where no food is available. We need dog food, cat food, jackets, warm blankets and medicines to cover the expenses for the next six months and help strays fight the extreme temperatures with some compassion.
Please help us in reaching our goal. Your contribution means the animals in a turmoil driven state get the same treatment that those in the rest of the country get.
Thanks
Team KAWF
