Hi,
My name is Anil, and I come from a Varanasi slum in UP, India. I was sponsored by some good people to go to school, and since my ninth grade developed a dream of becoming a research scientist in the field of chemistry and life sciences. As a result of my enthusiasm for science, I scored 95/100 in both Chemistry and Biology during my 12th grade. After that I managed to get into Banaras Hindu University.
However, God planned on making things a bit harder for me. My father died of Multi-drug-Resistant Tuberculosis. After a while I and my sister also contracted the disease. My sister lost her hearing due to medicinal side effects, she had to stop going to school. I had to drop out to help my sister ( a bright kid) get her hearing back, so that she can continue her education. I managed to get her a cochlear implant with the help of Tata Trust and some good people. She again started going to school. :)
I'm planning to again pursue my dream of becoming a research scientist. I got admission in TU Clausthal ( a German University) for studying chemistry. The education there is mostly free, and I can bear my personal expenses by doing students jobs. However, I need to make a blocked bank account containing nearly 10,000 Euros for applying for a student visa.With a total family income of a little more than 100 Euros a month, this cost is impossible for me to bear.
I urge you to help me bear this cost and realize my dreams. Helping me would be helping 100s of other children in my slum, because it would encourage them to dream. It will tell them that their dreams can come true,doesn't matter what their financial and social condition is.
