My name is Anam, and I am a 24 years old trans woman from Varanasi. Recently, shifted to Bangalore to work however I couldn't continue with it because of the hostile environment and currently looking for an opportunity. (Can't go back to hometown because my brother revealed about my identity to the society, it's unsafe) I am seeking support from well-wishers to enable me embark on some gender-affirming medical procedures.
I have been struggling with acute gender dysphoria since age 5. I faced bullying and taunting at school both because of my gender expression and my religion (being from a Muslim family). I was forced to discontinue from school, which led to a failed attempt at suicide.
I forced myself to come out and explain my gender dysphoria to my father, who tried to get me psychiatric help. Unfortunately, the psychiatrist attempted to ‘convert’ me to a cis person, which further took a toll on my mental health. Over time, my dad came around after understanding better about my gender, accepted me and helped me come out to the rest of my family members.
With family support and by offering tuitions to supplement our meagre family income, I managed to return to school, complete my senior secondary school and college, and even took a Master’s.
Now I have reached the stage where I can contemplate some steps in medical transitioning, However, the financial burden, given that I am also supporting my family, is unaffordable high. Hence, I seek support to help me with
1. Hormone replacement therapy- this costs around INR 5000 a month and is a life long commitment ( it is hazardous to health if it is discontinued.)
2. Orchiectomy after 6 months of commencing Hormone replacement therapy which would tentatively cost around 50,000- 60,000
3. Facial laser- hair removal therapy. This takes around 6-10 sessions and the whole treatment tentatively costs around 70,000-80,000.
I am NOT contemplating gender-affirming surgery at this point because of the costs involved.
I request you to donate to this campaign for my transitioning which will definitely ease my dysphoria at some level. Please share it with your friends as well.
