What is more dreadful to a mother than seeing the world shatter for their children?

Something similar happened to Maya Devi when her eldest son Amit Kumar met with an accident back in 2021. Amit was born healthy, and ever since his youth he enjoyed running. He aspired to join the military while he grew up and he kept continuously practicing to make his dream come true. But an accident took away all his hope, and there is a probability that he might never see the day when he finally achieves his dreams. Now only a donation of 25 lakhs ($ 31262.70) is the remaining hope for Amit towards leading a normal life again.

On January 21, 2021, Amit was on a run as usual when he suddenly touched a wire that had been laid out on the road. His left hand touched the wire but in the process of removing it with his right hand, both his hands were burnt.

He was then pulled away from the wire by his friends who were with him and they rushed to the hospital. After examining, he was referred to another hospital in Varanasi, where several blood tests were performed and dressings were applied until the condition worsened.

After 15 days, he was transferred to New Delhi where the doctor amputated both of his hands and suggested a hand transplant.

In September 2021, he was again transferred to a hospital in Mumbai where a doctor recommended a hand transplant, but the cost estimates are around 25 lakh ($ 31262.70).

Amit's father is a farm laborer, and his measly monthly income can barely support his family. His mother has heart disease and is currently on medication. She couldn't manage to get heart surgery because of a lack of funds.

They have exhausted their resources, and almost 8 to 9 lakhs have already been spent on the treatment to date. The family has sold farmland, and jewelry and borrowed money from relatives for the treatment but they still need 25 lakhs ($ 31262.70) for the hand transplant surgery.

“The fact that he would not be able to live a normal life like people his age breaks our hearts” adds Maya Devi.

Amit aspires to become a paralympic athlete when he recovers, and he even won 1st prize in running and Kabaddi. Your donations are the only hope he has left. Please donate and make sure that he gets to live the bright future that he deserves.
