My father was diagnosed with colon cancer around a year ago and went through chemo sessions at Aster CMI Hospital in Bangalore; post which the doctor confirmed that his situation was improving and took him off chemo and prescribed oral medicines.
However, the cancer aggravated and spread across to the intestines, and he was put into chemo again along with some other medicines. After the first session, he had severe stomach pain and was admitted to the Vikram Hospital, where his oncologist also practiced. Post diagnosis, they found that there are perforations in the intestine, due to which the food is leaking out of the intestine into the stomach.
Surgery wasn’t an option as there were tumors on the intestine which were malignant. Due to his critical condition, he was put into ventilation for 3 days and per the doctors’ suggestions, was taken off life support on Tuesday (7th May).
He can breathe without external aid, however, his condition is worsening day by day: he has symptoms of jaundice, frequent vomiting and passing blood with stool. He is being fed nutrients through IV as oral food consumption isn’t an option, which is again a costly affair
We have spent more than our financial capabilities allowed us to and would require an additional 7.5 lakhs rupees. At this time of crisis, it will be of immense help to us if you could contribute.
