Given the ongoing situation in Afghanistan, The Period Society is raising funds to provide ration kits and basic hygiene essentials to the Samarpan Foundation's Empowerment Center for Afghan Refugee Center in Malviya Nagar. We recently held a pad distribution drive and basic health check up at this center for the beneficiaries in collaboration with Adira Foundation and RC Medicrew. Given the tragic development in the situation in Afghanistan over the last few days, there has been an influx of family members from Afghanistan over the last few days. We seek to collect these kits to help over 90 refugee families to support Afghan Refugee female artisans who have not only lost their livelihood during the pandemic but also now have to provide for their family members who are arriving from Afghanistan. This is causing increasing difficulties for people who seek to feed their families. We are hence organizing this fundraiser for Afghan refugees and their families through Samarpan Foundation to purchase dry ration kits and basic hygiene essentials such as soap, period products, and sanitizers/masks.
