We aim to create a positive environment where young boys and men are advocates for gender equality and women empowerment, just like us. Due to patriarchy in our society, gender inequality is a major issue and women face continued violence and discrimination, including sexual harassment and domestic violence. According to the National Crimes Records Bureau, in 2016 the sexual violence of minor girls increased by 82% compared with the previous year. Chillingly, across all cases 95% of the men were not strangers but family, friends and neighbours. Another study shows, over 50% of Indian men and women still believe that sometimes women deserve a beating. one woman is killed every hour for not bringing enough dowry to a husband. These reports highlight the need for change in the mindsets and attitudes of men towards women. To raise awareness on this issue we want to carry out a gender equality awareness campaign tailored towards youth so that we can instil a clear understanding of a gender equality culture in them. Although we do want an active participation of both boys and men. The key areas we want to focus on are protect women & girls rights, promote welfare and increase respect for females.
