This is with reference to Nabyendu Roy, s/o N. C. Roy, aged 32 years, resident of Alipurduar, West Bengal, and currently employed in Bangalore.
Nabyendu was diagnosed with a primary Stage III-B Head & Neck Squamous Cell Cancer of the base of tongue in December, 2015 and has ever since been under treatment at Health Care Global Hospital, Bangalore.
In these long 20 months of his fight against cancer, Nabyendu has exhausted all first line therapies for cancer and couple of second line therapies till now, but the disease is persistent and started exhibiting loco-regional metastases. According to doctors at HCG, Nabyendu's disease is attributed to an unwanted mutation in his genes, and treatments are available, but its only a matter of time and trials until the cancer starts responding to a treatment regimen.
Until now, Nabyendu has undergone Chemotherapies, Radiation therapies, Radical Glossectomy(i.e. removal of tongue ) & Immunotherapy, and is currently undergoing treatment with Cellular Immunotherapies. The net expenditure for his treatment has soared over 50 Lakhs, and the disease is coming back after every procedure and therapy that are being attempted on him.
Per our consultations with Dr. Radheshyam and Dr. Vishal Rao, both of HCG, on the available options for treatment, they have advised that all traditional Cancer therapies have been exhausted for Nabyendu, and have advised to go for Cellular Immunotherapies( Activated T-Cell Therapy in combination with Dendritic Vaccine Therapy ), of which the Activated T Cell therapy was provided to him free of cost by the hospital. Seeing the good effects of Activated T-Cell Therapy, Dr. Gururaj and Dr. Radheshyam have both recommended to start with Dendritic Vaccine Therapy, which is available at the hospital. However, the estimated cost of this therapy is about Rs. 4,60,000 and could not yet be started due to lack of funds.
Nabyendu is getting his food through a PEG tube placed within his stomach since last 10 months, and breathing through a tracheostomy tube placed in his throat since last 6 months. As of 27th August, 2017, Nabyendu's tumors have grown into his wind pipe and bleeding into his lungs, because of which he has been put in a mechanical ventilator under ICU care for respiratory distress. The esteemed HCG hospital has kindly funded his treatments for the last 2 months, but this cannot continue beyond practical limits; we estimate a supportive and intensive care cost of an additional 5.5 lakhs in the next couple of months.
I hope your Millap will help us leverage the collective goodwill of our society to arrange a fund of Rs. 15,00,000 for Nabyendu's immediate treatment and necessary care.
