Palghar district in Maharashtra - a mere 90 km away from Mumbai - is facing a severe nutrition crisis. The number of child deaths due to malnutrition has sharply increased in recent months, with as many as 209 deaths between April and August 2016.
Fight Hunger Foundation is one of the few NGOs in India who work specifically with children with acute malnutrition. We provide them therapeutic food that restores their health within six to eight weeks.
Our aim in Palghar is to ensure no child dies of hunger. We started our program in September 2016 and have now opened two outpatient clinics to screen, detect and treat these children. Through this campaign we aim to raise Rs. 2,00,000 and save the lives of at least 40 children in Palghar, who are currently at the risk of dying due to severe acute malnutrition.

It only takes Rs. 5000/- to provide therapeutic food and provide live-saving treatment to a child. During the treatment, therapeutic food is given to the child for about six-eight weeks which restores his/her digestive system and takes care of his/her nutritional need to help the child recover soon. We ensure that the child does not fall back to this debilitating state by doing regular follow-ups. A take home ration (that includes Pulses, Oil, Wheat, Rice, Sugar) is given to the child after the treatment to ensure he/she stays healthy soon after the treatment.
