Public Health Justice runs a community nursery in New Dhobighat area of Cuffe Parade. Currently the centre has 8 community teachers and 80 students with the teacher-student ratio 1:10. These community teachers are women from the community who are educated above tenth grade. We train them and they then run the community centres, thus the NGO helps these women generate livelihoods and empowers them to become financially self-sufficient.

The response of the community to the centre has been phenomenal and we now plan to enrol 80 more students, thus we need 8 more teachers. In order to pay the stipend of 2,500 per teacher per month, we are organisaing this fund raiser.

There are four batches, 9 -11 am, 11am -1 pm, 1-3 pm and 3-5 pm and each community teacher works for one batch and we have two community teachers per batch.

These teachers go in the community, get students between 2-6 years enrolled, teach them alphabets, vocabulary, tell stories, teach poems and basic sanitation. We need a donation of 2500 per teacher per month and we request donors to sponsor atleast one teacher for one month.
