4% of India’s total child population of 20 millions are orphans. Most of these children have been abandoned by their parents. The rehabilitation process for these orphans often depends on the charity of the institutions they are placed in. Varying from being provided vocational training, to a higher education and most of the time, just being left to fend for themselves.
Project Shining Stars has identified that in order for rehabilitation to be successful, these orphans require life skills training and social exposure in order to fit in with mainstream society.
Under the project, orphans are provided with life skill training through a residential training program followed by vocational training. Then, they are encouraged to take up jobs or continue their schooling.
It is essential for these children to be incorporated into society to ensure responsible and well rounded adults. They deserve a shot at success, let's not abandon them again.
