Story

SELCO foundation is a NGO actively engaged in community activities in Sagayapuram, Bengaluru 560 084.

Current Scenario:

  • The project seeks to construct a manned kiosk to provide 24/7 ‘on demand’, easy to access, pay per use lighting and mobile charging services powered by solar energy (as semi-automated charge station).
  • The targeted users for this service are slums, street vendors and low income houses that do not have financial capacity or opportunity to instantly access off grid solar lighting systems.
  • The kiosk is planned to be installed in a location such as bus stops to capitalize on existing footfall and their high visibility.
  • Off Grid lighting will save 3L of kerosene per family per month in slums, while the shift to solar will save Rs.200 per month per street vendor.
Mentioned below are the areas of improvement for active community participation and sustained efforts.
