Education can firmly be considered the backbone of society. Almost all social prospects and personal qualities of a human depend, first and foremost, upon the access to proper education.

Aijaz Ahmed, who has dedicated a lifetime to the cause of providing quality and wholesome education to children, has been struggling for decades to keep this backbone steady within his local community and is currently seeking support for the cause.

36 years ago, Aijaz witnessed that the children of Gayatri Puram were whiling their time away for lack of a school in the neighborhood. He, therefore, utilized his entire savings to provide elementary schooling for these children and established "Gayathri Higher Primary School".

Initially, the school was functioning in a small rented building, driven by the relentless effort to provide what Aijaz considered a very basic need of a prosperous society.  Further on, he gradually gathered funds to pay a salary to teachers, purchase benches and other basic supplies, and by taking out several bank loans, he later purchased the site and constructed two classrooms.

"Initially, the school was functioning in a small rented building, driven by the relentless effort to provide what Aijaz considered a very basic need of a prosperous society."

Using funding from a printing press which he started in 1986, he was able to expand the school and keep it running. In 1987, the government granted financial aid to appoint teachers and provide salary for three of the seven members of the school staff. Numerous pupils have so far passed through "Gayathri Higher Primary School" and pursued fruitful careers. The school now provides education to children from elementary to 8th grade, collecting nominal fees to cover the expenses.

"Education can firmly be considered the backbone of society."

In his dedication, Aijaz went on to apply for land allotment to increase the extent of the struggle and provide quality education to more children. In 1992, the government released an order to allot the site to "Gayathri Higher Primary School". However, the Police department claimed ownership of the site, which was allotted to the school, and the land allotment was promptly canceled.

The case was fought in the high court and, after 14 years, was finally won. In 2006, the court finally passed orders directing the government to allot the site to the school. Nevertheless, the processing took until 2017, and now, 30 years later, an opportunity has finally occurred to acquire the allotted land, but at present, it is required to pay a hefty amount for it. We are therefore asking for your financial support to obtain the site for the school. The amount required is INR 49,80,000 (excluding registration fees) to obtain possession of this site. With registration fees included, the amount needed is roughly about INR 55,00,000 (USD 80,000).

”About 4,000 students have graduated from Gayathri Higher Primary School and gone on to become software engineers, doctors, and college professors.”

About 4,000 students have graduated from “Gayathri Higher Primary School” and gone on to become software engineers, doctors, and college professors. The school is ceaselessly strengthening the community and ensuring that no child is left behind. We are wholeheartedly striving not to let the school be closed or drop the decades-long struggle, so we are kindly asking for your much-needed support.

Children are the ambassadors of our common future and your donation to the cause of providing accessible and quality education to them shall thus be an investment in a better world for all.

Your donation – a seemingly insignificant step for an individual – will help thousands of children make a giant leap: it will directly increase their social prospects and equip them with education, the most valuable personal asset of all. Thirty years of dedication and the future of "Gayathri Higher Primary School" depend upon your decision to participate in this struggle.

Each penny counts to reach the goal, so please donate!
