    This fundraiser will benefit

    Sanjana

    from New Delhi, Delhi

I should have sensed it before, why didn’t I… I watched the boil grow into a big lump... so much that now my daughter’s life is in danger and I am helpless, unable to save her. The lump was so big it must have weighed 1 kg. And it can come back and kill her if we don't get her treated.”- Shankar,Sanjana’s father

Sanjana is suffering from Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma or RMS, is an aggressive and highly malignant form of cancer. It is generally considered to be a disease of childhood, as the vast majority of cases occur in those below the age of 18. It spreads very rapidly and it can also cause death.

It took them 1 year to know she has cancer

Sajana had cancer since birth but it took them 1 year to know what she was suffering from. Every day with her, her cancer grew too. It grew to a stage where it is threatening this little child’s life. The parents noticed a very tiny bump on Sanjana’s groin area they thought it to be some vaccination effect but in no time it grew so big that it was hard for them to ignore anymore and rushed to the hospital.

We didn’t think it will be this serious. I was very...very scared and we decided that even if it costs us everything,we need to find a cure to this...but we did not expect cancer at all. My poor baby had it for months and I didn't know."- Maya,mother

A rented house, three kids and no work...I don’t know how I will manage all this

Maya stays with Sanjana at the hospital. Therefore, to look after the other three children, Shankar travels back and forth daily from hospital to home.

“I prepare them food and drop them to school, then I come back to the hospital to take care of Sanjana's needs, reports, tests etc. If there is time, I work but that is very rare...It’s been 4 months now, I couldn’t go to work. I cannot afford 4 lakhs...how can I... ”- Shankar

“She is on the hospital bed since 6 months...she hasn't eaten much, hasn't slept for days. I just want her out of here. Her brothers and her sister are waiting for her at home and I don’t know what to say to them...It’s been so many months. They ask me, why I am not there with them but what can I say?” Maya

She is better now but for how long? Only an operation can save her

“She has undergone 5 chemo sessions already and can't take more. The lump has subsided but it can come back anytime. The doctors are saying that if she does not get the operation on time, it will be difficult for them to save her. I can’t arrange any more money. I borrowed from everyone I know..I don’t know what I should do to save her.” Shankar

Before the cancer relapses, she needs to have an operation at the earliest. She has high chances of full recovery if the operation is done in time but Shankar cannot afford it. With your little help, Sanjana's life can be saved and she can be better in no time.
