IT IS TRUE THAT EDUCATION IN INDIA HAS MANAGED TO REACH IN MOST NOOKS AND CORNERS OF THE COUNTRY, HOWEVER, THE 'QUALITY' OF EDUCATION IS STILL A QUESTION MARK.

Various initiatives by the Government, for example, the famous Anganwadi system of education prevalent in rural areas, which provides underprivileged children with health care, food and education, has helped to a certain extent but somehow, such initiatives have not been able to spread awareness about the importance of education as it should have. The result being- early dropout from schools, limiting them from reaching their fullest potential.

An external view of India would definitely be that India is reaching new heights but with so many social issues to be looked after, is India rising or calling more troubles for itself?

Challenges-

AS PER UNICEF REPORTS, MORE THAN 175MILLION CHILDREN  - AROUND HALF OF PRE- PRIMARY - AGE CHILDREN GLOBALLY - ARE NOT ENROLLED IN PRE-PRIMARY EDUCATION, MISSING A CRITICAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY AND SUFFERING DEEP INEQUALITIES FROM THE START.

Though Anganwadi educational system exists in India from a very long time now and it definitely marked the beginning of a progressive India, however,  it seems like it has lost its vision midway.

Anganwadis fulfill the basic need of food of the underprivileged rural crowd but its main purpose of setting a strong academic base for children has gone off track. In fact, the real essence of kindergarten education has always been missing in Aganwadis.
-Lack of faculty.
- techniques for spreading awareness about educational importance and equity has gone wrong.
- no motivation in the teachers to educate the children.
These are some of the challenges to name a few.

Solution-

Pehal foundation thus wants to step in and come up with their own playschool model of nutri-education for underprivileged children, which will not only bring in an ideal childhood experience but also provide the underprivileged children with a better learning experience.

How will it be different from the already existing kindergartens/playschools?

Pehal Foundation will incorporate technology into education(i.e ICT based education). A lot of research has proven that the mix of technology with education has led to better knowledge grasping power amongst children, better presentation skills, innovative capabilities etc.
This is not new in the urban areas but it will be a fine step towards bridging the gap between urban and rural education.

Since, here our concern is education, exposing children to technology through education will be a different experience for them all together, pushing their unpressed buttons and taking them to a world that is completely unknown to them.

This will also help attract a bigger underprivileged crowd into education which is Pehal's primary goal.

Long term impact-

-Pehal Foundation's playschool idea would act as a model for all existing anganwadis as well as the upcoming ones. It will be a road map for other anganwadis for improvement, development and enhancement of teaching methods.

- Pehal Foundation plans on building a child-friendly infrastructure as well as use educational toys, paintings and other playing equipment for improved learning outcome of children which will make them school ready in return.

As part of this, Pehal team is also planning to develop a localized curriculum that can be used by  Aanganwadis in Jharkhand. Localization of content is needed as these kids come from a different background and in their home/neighbourhood, spoken language is not even Hindi.

We will be building on top of existing material created by other NGOs and students of IIT Dhanbad and IIT Roorkee to develop the same. The developed curriculum will be licensed under creative commons so that it can be re-used by other people also.

1. Localized curriculum
2. Re-use of other content where possible
3. Release of developed content under creative commons .. ( So we can contribute back to say Storyweaver or Estep)

You can give wings to the dreams of these little angels by contributing as little as your one day's salary because even a little contribution can make a huge difference.

A small step taken by you will make a child's life beautiful.

How Can You Help?

You can contribute however small or big.  100 or 10,000, it is the spirit that counts.  It may not be easy to see the possible impact of your contribution at present, but your 100 could pave the way for billions of Rupee when this Playschool is established and is picked up by the mainstream development machinery.
