I’ve recently started volunteering with an NGO called Hamari Pahchan and have been shook by the immense work they’ve done for the underprivileged during the COVID and pre COVID times. Be it food drives, COVID help or providing underprivileged children with gadgets for means of study, they have and are currently doing everything in their power to provide for those in need.
One initiative that really caught my eye was ‘The Sukhad Project’.
This project is created for underprivileged women so that they can spend their period days comfortably with proper means and knowledge. It aims at providing them with sanitary pads, educating them regarding menstrual hygiene, and making all of us understand that ‘Periods’ and talking about the same is not something to feel ashamed of. Along with this, They have also decided to step further in ensuring proper menstrual hygiene of women with providing Sukhad kits (sufficient for them for 1 year).
Sukhad kits for 5 women = Rs 7,000/-
1. 24 packets of sanitary pad
2. 6 packets of soap
3. Disposable paper envelopes
I feel elated to be a part of the project and contribute towards it in any way possible.
I urge you all to do the same. It’s your time to do your bit. I would really appreciate it if you would donate ANY AMOUNT to the cause and help break the taboo related menstruation.
