We all know about the problem of plastic in our country and around the world.Piles of garbage lay around all over in our cities but this problem is more dangerous for Himalayan ecosystem.
I personally understand this problem during my last visit of Spiti in Himalayan region.Spiti is a very remote and no man's land region of Himalaya but still you can spot empty plastic bottles and plastic food packaging bags.
Now i want to take action and create awareness about plastic pollution in Himalayan region.I choose the most famous and crowded route of Himalayan region Manali- Leh route for my campaign.
I will cycling on this route for 20 days in the month of August and collect plastic garbage and will create awareness about the problem of plastic garbage in Himalayan region.
I choose cycle because its the most eco-friendly way to commute and i don't want to add more air pollution in Himalaya by using any other vehicle.Earlier i traveled on my bike but now i switched to more eco friendly vehicle.
My goal is to collect at-least 40kg of plastic garbage(2kg/day) and conduct one plastic awareness session per day during my trip.
About the route: Manali-Leh stretch is very famous among motorcycle enthusiast and its the most difficult stretch for cycling because it pass through some of the highest motorable roads of the world but this stretch turns out to be a garbage paradise because of uncontrollable flow of tourists.
Expenses during the campaign:
1)Fantom 21 speed gear mountain bike cost Rs 17600.
I choose the most basic mountain bike for my project. After completing the campaign i will auction and donate the money in charity.
2)Alex military M-02 tent Rs.1485. I will stay in tent instead of any hotel to save cost.
3) Transportation of cycle from Delhi and from Leh back to Delhi.
Rs. 3000
4)For educational events and other logistics Rs 22000
5)Rs 500 for daily expenses of 20 days total Rs 10000
