More than eight million children under 6 live in approximately 49,000 slums across India and becoming increasingly vulnerable to a variety of risks.
A few years ago, Dev Kumar Verma and his wife Priyanka Verma decided to do something concrete to address the issue at their own capacity. Spending part of their own salary for several years, they have successfully brought back to school more than 500 kids in the coal mining belt of Jharkhand, who often otherwise lose their childhood engaged in illegal coal thefts.
Verma runs three completely free primary schools - Pathshala and successfully transformed the lives of these countless kids.
