struggling communities. We gather teams of organizers, artists, locals, and fundraisers to choose and paint a series of large-scale images on the walls of villages around the world.
Villagers themselves are directly involved in the process from start to finish, which gives them a sense of pride and motivation to invest more efforts in their community.
The villagers, and artists who travel to collaborate on these projects, learn and draw inspiration from one another during their interaction, and also leave a lasting reminder
for future visitors. We not only paint but also support and facilitate creative expression and artisan activities of all kinds when we visit these villages. The encouragement to villagers to expand on their handicrafts and other expressive endeavors has the potential to boost the economy through tourism and generally increased engagement.
Tourists and other visitors also gain the opportunity to learn the stories of the villagers through their art. In this way, everyone benefits, learns, and grows together. This initiative inspires creative expression, while giving a sense of purpose and voice to
communities which currently lack representation in the global forum. Interactions with people from outside of the local culture also help villagers to expand their view of the world and give them a sense of pride for what they have. It stands as an example to people of all backgrounds and corners of the world that personal and collective expression is valuable in its own right. It also builds understanding and tolerance among those who would not have otherwise been exposed to such villages as the ones we are
Through this hands-on approach to sharing a creative process, Paint the Planet inspires, informs, and builds up communities while facilitating expression and making art accessible to all the people of the world.
