Can you help me?
I want to be independent from Muscular Dystrophy, it is eating out my muscles.
I want to be a breadwinner for my old parents.
I am looking to raise funds funds to buy a three-wheeler vehicle and to open a small convenience store to generate a small income for my family where I and my sisters can work and earn to support our old parents and an elder brother who also suffers from muscular dystrophy.
If you could pause and spare a moment to think about the following:
Can we stand without our muscles?
What if our muscles degenerate as we grow up?
Exactly that is what is happening to me!
I am just 24 years old. I live in Goliya village of Deesa, Banaskantha district in Gujarat. I am unable to walk without the help of a walking stick because my muscles are DETERIORATING EVERYDAY.
One day I will probably be unable to stand on my feet.
My elder brother is 34 and he also suffers from muscular dystrophy. He has been unable to stand for the past 15 years! His condition prevents him from being employed anywhere.
My father is 57 and my mother is 56. They are also unable to earn much as they grow older.
My family also includes three sisters.
Until a few months ago, I used to run a shop in the village so that I could earn and feed my family. But as my muscles started weakening I was unable to get on my feet on my own and I had to close the shop because I could not travel for a long distance. Today I live on my family's small farm but I am unable to do any farming.
Today, my family lives on the charity of some good hearted villagers.
My brother and I are struggling to carry out day to day activities. Morning calls, baths, getting up from bed - everything is a mountain to climb for us.
But in this despair, I see hope and kindness - such as that of a good-hearted gentleman from Ahmedabad who gifted my family a western toilet that we have installed in our house and that has helped ease our lives a little.
My Appeal to You
I do not want to live on charity for a lifetime. The doctor who I had visited in Ahmedabad has suggested stem-cell therapy, a treatment that could cure me or at the very least he has advised me to go for physiotherapy treatment. I was recommended to obtain treatment from Jeevan Foundation in Chennai. The cost of this treatment is estimated at Rs.30,000 a month, which works up to Rs.1,80,000 for a full 6-month course.
After the treatment I intend to open a shop to earn a small living for my family and purchase a three-wheeler to move around.
Help me to lead a life of dignity, to stand on my feet and to be a breadwinner for my family.
Even your small contribution of just Rs.2,500 will help me reach my goal and support my family.
