Learning Curve has been providing life skills education for underprivileged kids for many years. That means giving them social and emotional skills to help them realize themselves completely as well as how to tackle the world around them. FB page is at https://www.facebook.com/skills.learningcurve/
This year, they are expanding--the need is so dire and more schools want to participate. However, limitation is the funds, as we are dependent on donations. We've signed up 10 schools, and hope to be able to fulfill our commitment through your support.
At Grace Model School, in Pannipura, Hyderabad, which I'm raising funds for, the parents of children are primarily auto drivers/vegetable sellers, with many mouths to feed in the family.
Kids in the school typically don't know how to channelize anger, depression, conflict and other emotions, nor is there good awareness of self.
I've visited two of the projects of Learning Curve and their work is amazing. We've seen great results at Grace, and all it takes is Rs. 900 to enable a child.
The principal of Grace Model school, Ayesha Mirza, is a dynamic woman who has run the school despite all the challenges. She encourages the education of the girl child in the school as well.
Help me support the program for next year!
How will the funds be used?
The cost of the life skills program for each child for an entire year is Rs. 900. This includes a toolkit that each child will receive, with stickers, posters, and the like, an art kit, a journal, as well as assessment of progress of each child. We have 200 kids.
The cost of training a teacher for the life skills program for the year is Rs. 7000. This includes an 8-day intensive training, and one-on-mentoring through the year. We are training 10 teachers.
