Empower a child. Enable a Dream.

Seema and Lata (Name changed) were two 10 yr old girls we met at one of our session on stress management. The girls found  the courage to tell us how stressful it was for them to go through the days when they had their subject lesson with a particular teacher. The reason? The teacher would not miss an opportunity to touch them inappropriately. While the girls did muster the courage to inform the senior people of the school and the required action was taken, what was evident was their difficulty of recovering from this experience.

Sai, (name changed) a child who had learning issues, which was a big cause of his low self - esteem, is now able to express himself and communicate better. The reason? Because, our teacher changemaker identified the need for social – emotional development and conducted sessions with us to help the child believe in himself.

And these are just two of the many realities for young children from low income communities.

Every year that we’ve been on the ground looking at ways and means to integrate social-emotional development into classroom environments, we’ve come across a few stark realities – particularly for those children in low income communities and their difficulties in getting better adulthood outcomes due to lack of nurturing environments and motivated teachers in their schools.

This year it’s everything on the line for us – 3500 children and 130 teachers are part of our programs this year, and we are going all out to ensure that this is done in the most professional manner so that these children have a better shot at their future.

Our team is fully committed to making this happen – but we also know that we will need lots of support from people around us who believe that every child has the right to realize one’s own potential as a human being.

For each school, we have enrolled 200 children and 10 teachers in the program, and it costs us Rs. 2.5 lakhs per year to support a school. Teachers in the program go through 8 days of classroom workshops with us, and get full mentoring support through our mentor team through the year. Each class also gets a full toolkit for social-emotional development, plus message posters, story cards and reflection journals for each child - all carefully designed to enable age appropriate social-emotional development.

We invite you to be part of our work this year – by becoming a donor, you will not only support us financially, but also become part of our world – and hopefully part of a world that cares about bringing up children to become emotionally intelligent and socially responsible citizens.

Here are the ways in which you can support us:

  1. Transform a School (200 children, 10-12 teachers) : INR 2.5 lakhs
  2. Tansform a Classroom (40 children) : INR 35,000
  3. Transform a Peer Group (10 children) : INR 15,000
  4. Empower a Teacher : INR 7,000

Hi everyone,
Here's a story that made us go 'Woo-Hoo!" in September
Nazmeen teacher from Hyderabad Islamic School, Dabeerpura, Hyderabad talks about how her journey with Learning Curve's program has empowered her to bring empathy in her classroom.

For us, this is a tremendous validation of how the integration of teacher development and teacher-led life skills facilitation in the classroom is creating impact.

Thankful for all your support!
